Please read these terms carefully before using our service. By accessing or using Lode, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

Welcome to Lode ("we", "us", "our"). These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Lode mobile and web application (the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service. These Terms should be read together with our Privacy Policy and Health & Training Disclaimer, which are incorporated by reference into these Terms.

Lode is a digital training load monitoring platform designed to help runners and endurance athletes: Track and log training data, Calculate Acute:Chronic Workload Ratio (ACWR), Monitor training load and intensity trends, Estimate training-related injury risk patterns, Receive personalized training feedback, Integrate data from Garmin and Apple HealthKit, Access educational content on training science.

Accounts & Security

Eligibility

To use the Service, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Provide accurate and complete registration information
  • Accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy

Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorised use or suspected breach of security.

Account Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraud, misuse the Service, or for other valid reasons at our discretion.

You agree to:

  • Use the Service lawfully and responsibly
  • Provide accurate and relevant training data
  • Respect the intellectual property rights of Lode and third parties
  • Take responsibility for your own training decisions

You must not:

  • Use the Service for illegal or harmful purposes
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer or disrupt the Service
  • Misrepresent your identity or share false information
  • Access or scrape data using automated tools
  • Upload or transmit viruses, malware, or harmful code
  • Use Lode as medical advice, replacing healthcare professionals with the data and information in this app

Termination by You

You may delete your account at any time via the app or by contacting us at lode.acwr@gmail.com.

Upon termination, your personal and workout data will be deleted or anonymised within 6 months, unless you request earlier deletion.

Termination by Us

We may terminate your account immediately if you breach these Terms, misuse integrations, engage in fraudulent activity, or as required by law.

Effect of Termination

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Clauses on liability, data, intellectual property, and dispute resolution shall survive termination.

Health and Safety Disclaimer

Lode is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice.

All data, calculations, ACWR metrics, and recommendations are estimates and should not be relied upon for medical or professional fitness decisions.

You should consult a qualified healthcare or sports professional before:

  • Starting a new training program
  • Returning from injury or illness
  • Making significant changes to your routine
  • Training with pain or medical conditions

Stop training immediately and seek medical advice if you experience any serious symptoms such as chest pain, dizziness, fainting, or severe shortness of breath.

Data and Privacy

Your use of the Service is governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, process, store, and protect your data.

Data Controller and Storage

Lode (trading name of an individual) is the Data Controller.

All user data is securely hosted in the United Kingdom using Supabase servers.

Lawful Basis and Consent

By using Lode and connecting your devices, you consent to the processing of your personal and training data for the purpose of providing and improving the Service.

Processing may also be necessary for contractual performance (e.g., calculating your ACWR).

You may withdraw your consent or delete your account at any time; however, this may limit your ability to use the Service.

Algorithmic Processing

Lode uses algorithms and analytics solely to calculate and display your Acute:Chronic Workload Ratio (ACWR).

These calculations:

  • Are automated based on your submitted or synced training data
  • Are not shared with or accessible by any third party
  • Do not produce automated decisions with legal or medical effects

Third-Party Integrations

Garmin and Apple HealthKit

When you connect Lode to Garmin or Apple HealthKit, you authorise Lode to access your training data from those services in accordance with their respective developer terms and privacy settings.

You can disconnect integrations at any time within your device or account settings.
Data accessed from Garmin or Apple HealthKit will only be used to calculate ACWR and related metrics.
We will respect your privacy settings within those third-party services.
We will not sell, share, or publicly display data retrieved from these integrations.

Lode complies with the Garmin Developer Program Agreement, including:

  • Obtaining valid user consent before accessing Garmin data
  • Using data only for the intended functionality
  • Implementing appropriate technical and organisational security measures
  • Not selling or disclosing Garmin user data to third parties
  • Responding to user data requests in compliance with UK GDPR

Third-Party Links

Our Service may include links to external sites. We are not responsible for their content, practices, or terms.

Ownership

The Service, including software, algorithms, content, text, design, graphics, and trademarks, is owned by Lode and protected by copyright and other IP laws.

Limited License

We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to access and use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes.

User Data

You retain full ownership of your personal and workout data.

By submitting or syncing data, you grant Lode a limited license to process and store it to provide and improve the Service.

We may use anonymised or aggregated data (not personally identifiable) to improve algorithms, analytics, or system performance.

Subscriptions and Payments

Free and Paid Versions

Lode currently offers a free version of the Service.

We may introduce paid subscription plans or premium features in the future.

Pricing and Notice

Details of paid plans, pricing, and features will be announced in advance.

You will be notified before any charges apply.

Your continued use of paid features constitutes acceptance of the applicable pricing terms.

Currency and Refunds

All fees will be charged in GBP (£) unless stated otherwise.

Refunds (if any) will be handled in accordance with UK consumer law and published subscription terms.

We strive to maintain consistent availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service.

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Service for maintenance or improvement without prior notice.

If we are found liable, our total liability shall not exceed £100 GBP or the amount you paid to use the Service in the preceding 12 months, whichever is greater.

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • The Service is provided 'as is' and 'as available'.
  • We make no warranties about accuracy, reliability, or fitness for a particular purpose.
  • We are not liable for any injuries, losses, or damages (direct or indirect) resulting from your use of the Service, including:
  • Training decisions based on our data
  • Inaccurate third-party data
  • Device errors or service outages
  • Data loss or unauthorised access

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Lode, its owner, agents, and affiliates from any claims, losses, or liabilities arising from:

  • Your breach of these Terms
  • Your misuse of the Service
  • Your violation of applicable law or third-party rights

Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Before initiating any legal action, please contact us at lode.acwr@gmail.com to attempt informal resolution.

We may update these Terms periodically.

If we make material changes, we will:

  • Post the updated version in the app and on our website
  • Update the 'Last Updated' date above
  • Notify registered users by email (if applicable)

Continued use of the Service after such updates constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

  • These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Health Disclaimer, constitute the entire agreement between you and Lode.
  • If any part of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
  • Our failure to enforce any right under these Terms does not waive that right.
  • We shall not be liable for failure to perform obligations due to causes beyond our reasonable control ('force majeure').
  • You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent.
